30 or 31....That is the question..

or

So I might have had a birthday today. I say might because I really didn't age a bit this year. For some reason, and I couldn't tell you exactly why, I have stated on numerous occasions that I am 31 years old. I have even written this number down next to the "age" section on documents and it's the number on my profile in my scale at home when it calculates body fat.

My little brother just happened to be discussing something and mentioned his age. And if I happen to be in the room, he loves to add that I am TEN years older. After doing the math in my head, subtracting the year I was born from the current year, I made this astonishing revelation. I'm not 31!

I have enjoyed being 30 for nearly 2 months. I have even had the opportunity to enter 30 in the "age" field a couple times, smiling every time. So on the day of my birth, I went back to being being 31 years old.

For the record I had a great day and wanted nothing but to spend it with my hubby and kids and I did just that! After all, there was no need for celebration.....this year I did not age a bit :)

An afterthought...
I remember being in my mid-late teens and having friends and acquaintances in their early 30's and I thought "Wow, they really have it together."

They weren't necessarily "settled down" or "had it all," but seemed to have goals and found their purpose in life while reflecting so much youth, vigor and maturity. They appeared to be comfortable with themselves and were comfortable in their own shoes, displaying a passion for life I could not understand. Now that I am entering this stage, I wonder, what messages I am conveying to those younger generations.
