We LOVED that Halloween was an entire weekend! We took advantage of every day! I am so proud of myself, I had gotten the boys costumes at the beginning of October rather than the week before. Halloween usually creeps up on us and we find ourselves going through multiple stores scavenging through their "leftovers" trying to find something in every one's sizes.......yeah, I know we're terrible procrastinators.
So Kael chose to be Batman and Koen, Superman. They were so excited that they had to hold their own costumes all through the store, ring them up themselves (of which they're getting to be good little cashiers in the self-check lanes) and as soon as we walked in the house they put them on.
Now these costumes stayed on through countless games on the Wii....
In fact they did EVERYTHING in their costumes. The only thing I wouldn't let them do is sleep in them of which when the time came, they simply took off their Batman and Superman costumes and put on their Batman p.j.s until they woke up.
Day 3 of costumes......and yes, Kael even wore the mask all hours of the day.
Dinner time for Batman.... After the third day I started feeling like a horrible mother and had a brief flash of being one of those moms that shop at Wal-mart with their kids in random costumes and outfits.....simply because they couldn't tell their kids "no" and had lost all control. Well, since I didn't want myself or my kids showing up on peopleofwalmart.com I temporarily retired the costumes until Halloween. The boys surprisingly took it well!
Here's another Halloween adventure. We went on a Haunted Railroad on the Heber Valley Railroad.
I LOVE trains....I think I said that before, but I'll say it again.....I LOVE TRAINS...... ok.....
So we all wanted to scrunch in tight together because who knew what spookiness lie in waiting for us.
Kael playing with his glow stick.
Koen's gorgeous eyes......
Just a little photo harassment from the moma-ratzi before the train departed.
One of the many spooky characters. On the way up we were told stories and saw the characters outside of the train and the train "had a brake problem" right where werewolves had allegedly attacked the train.....coincidence? :) And then we heard all kinds of growling over the speakers and the conductor screamed and next thing we know the train starts rolling along the tracks again and all the characters in the stories just happened to hitch a ride back with us, terrorizing the passengers......it was great!
The bride that died on the train on the way to her wedding.
Creepy cowboy
The witch who turned kids into black cats.....she came right up to the twins faces and said "you want to pet my kitty?" Well Kael and Koen busted out laughing while Hannah and Dallin were cowering and hiding their faces. LOL
Convicts who died on a train car transporting inmates. It was pretty fun. This was a fun spooky kid ride.
This was Friday Morning at work. It was our Halloween show and we had a BLAST!! These are the other two producers I work with. Together we each produce an hour show to total the 3 hours of 2News This Morning, we are the most watched morning show hands down!!! No other station even comes close ( including cable stations).....yeah, that's how awesome we are!
One of our guests on Halloween, Danny Trejo. He was so sweet and funny and hung out with us all morning. I can't even count how many movies he's done but he's better known for Spy Kids and Machete and one of movie of his I love Once Upon a Time In Mexico.
So, moving along.....I went to work at 11p.m. Thursday night, got home Friday morning at 7 a.m. after my show.....made 2 pumpkin pies, a pumpkin cake, nun puffs, two dozen fancy cupcakes and Monkey Bread. I cleaned and decorated my house, made dinner and got the kids all ready for my family Halloween Party at 6 p.m.
Reed, Raquel and baby Jace as Momma, Pappa and Baby Bear.
Kimmy with Clixie and Jackson.........he's not to happy because he walked into a house full of Batmans...... Well wouldn't you if you were surrounded by your arch enemies and an entire evening was wasted while the city was left wide open to be terrorized? As you can see, there is even a Batman just on the side of the frame watching his every move...........
Mad Hann-er, but she was more cute than mad looking.
OK, so the Superman switch.... I originally had the twins as Batman and Superman and guessed that Dallin would want to be Batman. But when he went to try on his costume it was too small (which was odd because they all wear the same size clothes now). So I told Dallin to wait until later and I would go back to the store and exchange Batman for a larger size. Well, he grew very impatient because everyone else was flying around the house in costumes and he was unable to "transform." Well push came to shove and he traded costumes with the twins so he became Superman and twins became identical twin Batmans. In the end it didn't seem to matter who was who.......as long as they had capes!
Baby bear taking a fishy snack break.
Our band of superheros. This is the closest I could get Barry to get in costume of which he gladly agreed to wear a Superman shirt. But it came with the warning that each year would get progressively more costume intense of which he totally agreed was ok......tee hee.......Let's just say I can't wait until next year!
Go Team Michaelson! Now, we were all having so much fun I wasn't able to get pictures of every one's costumes (sorry guys). I was just so sleep deprived. After I sent everyone home and put away food, cleaned the house I was trying my hardest not to collapse in the shower. Boy I had a put in some LONG HOURS! I don't think I need to mention that I slept like a BABY that night.
The following day, Saturday, the twins and I put back on our Bat attire and I gave Barry a Batman shirt and we all went trick-or-treating. Kael and Koen were so stoked we could hardly keep up with them. They'd see another house with their porch lights on and start running saying "let's get 'em!"
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
